GIYP
Adds New Plants to their Online Lawn & Garden Database
Woodbine,
MD – April, 2005 – Green
Industry Yellow Pages (GIYP) announces that information
on proprietary plants from Hines Horticulture will now
be available in the GIYP Virtual Plant Tag™ database.
Hines’ proprietary ornamental shrubs, color plants
and container-grown plants will be listed in GIYP’s
searchable database. In addition, each plant will feature
a virtual plant tag that offers a photo, cultural information
and garden center locator button.
“We are adding the proprietary plants to the database
on a trial basis,” says Joe Gray, regional vice president
of Hines Horticulture. “We are optimistic that gardeners
looking for plant information online will be compelled
to visit and purchase plants from the garden centers featured
in the GIYP database,” said Gray.
According
to a recent article in Ad Age, the Internet information
gap has made localized search an important
next frontier. “More than ever before, people are
going online to research products and find local businesses,
said Steve Cissel, GIYP CEO and founder. With 68% of consumers
that research products online ready to make purchases,
it’s no surprise that many businesses are realizing
the value consumers place on accessible information via
the internet.
The GIYP directory currently offers contact information
and web site links to 150,000 lawn and garden businesses
in the United States and Canada. For more information about
the directory visit www.giyp.com.
